A dynamic brand identity for King's virtual learning environment, combining a contemporary structure with pre-established guidelines, to lead with a set of adaptable, multipurpose variables and components for diverse formats. The flexible kit was adapted to support designers and developers to scale a united design system via the university's learning platform.
By architecting variable collections, including semantic and colour primitives, typography, spacing, and responsive element details, we created a system to promote cohesive designs that'll elevate the standard of online learning across the UK.
Our branding project for the KEATS Design Kit involved creating a dynamic and flexible system that captures the university's positioning—a unique collaboration that builds upon existing brand guidelines and a mature design system in the higher education sector. The King's Digital Design System, launched in 2019, represents the coming together of multidisciplinary designers and creative technologists. Through iterative feedback, our UX team combined their expertise to support a diverse range of design needs that makes online learning feel intuitive and exciting.

The new design kit needed to reflect King's prestigious standing as a high-ranking worldwide university with a modern attitude to digital learning experiences. We created a design system that is adaptable, multifaceted, and accessible, ensuring its application across online courses is smooth and inclusive.
